Bing’s disservice to online drug safety

January 29, 2019

Here is an article just published by noted academic Roger Bate that demonstrates the folly in Bing.com's approach to search engine warning flags for online pharmacy that is based on an inaccurate Not Recommended List created by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).

As you will see, Roger has purchased medicine from CIPA member websites and PharmacyChecker, finding them to be completely safe. He also purchased from websites that had not been identified on the NABP list and found some of them to be fakes.

Bate concludes: "Rather than encouraging safer purchasing of pharmaceuticals, the measure (use of NABP List) is driving consumers to uncredentialed sites that may be dangerous..Bing has made a mistake and should rectify its policy immediately."
